a little bit of lovely for your day

Former food stylist for Martha Stewart, Heidi Johannsen Stewart, has opened a tea shop in London. How divine! Stay tuned to Bellocq for more beauty in the future.

eggs!

We kicked off Easter week with some egg dyeing...lots of fun, but really messy. And the results were not exactly what I had envisioned, but I still love the colors. I tried using letter stickers to create a stencil on the eggs- not totally successful, but I'm not that surprised since we winged it. What are you doing for Easter this week?

school-inspired baby shower

I might use this phrase too often...but this party is too cute! Whitney and friends threw a school-inspired baby shower for a pregnant teacher friend. They even got her students to write child-rearing advice... priceless! For much more, head over to The Smith Family.

princess party

How do you combine an 'off-the-shelf' kiddie idea with high style? Check out Mrs A in The Cove's blog to see how she pulled off a lovely princess party. I almost missed that doll-in-cake with all of the pretty surrounding it! Love the color scheme, the punchy details, and of course- the pure joy covering the faces of all attending princesses. dinosaur birthday

Dinosaurs (which my son is currently obsessed with), dino-mite ideas and a Hicks invitation-inspired dinosaur cake...how can I resist this party? Answer: I can't. I'm preparing myself for a dinosaur bash when my son turns three in November, so I love when I stumble upon great inspiration like this. Check out the dinosaur jello jigglers, the dino dig, and the deviled dinosaur eggs, among other things. Much more at delaney family blog.

reader question of the week #2

reader question of the week #2:

"My daughter is turning 5 and she has selected High-Five as her theme. We sent out invites that had pictures of her holding up her hand showing that she was "a whole hand old". Now I am working to come up with some clever decor and goodies and maybe a game or two. Our ideas so far include ordering some foam hands for kids to wear and pose for photos in. Taking impressions of her friends hands to send home as a goodie bag item. We are having a Sunday afternoon party with finger sandwiches of course! I would love to hear some more ideas for decorating, cake, and games. Thanks so much!! -Dayna"

Pin the tiara on the princess, among other fun activities- at this princess party.

reader question of the week #1

reader question of the week #1:

"I'm throwing a baby shower for my best friend. She's having her third boy. They're very country, so we're doing a cowboy theme. Lemonade from mason jars, BBQ, the whole sha-bang. I just wanted to see if any of your readers had any good ideas for decor, among other things. Thanks in advance! -Lindsay"

FOUND! The golden egg.

For those of you who have followed Party Perfect for awhile, you might remember the fruitless search for my beloved 'golden egg' last year. Well- after much searching done by both my mom and I, we are so happy to proclaim we have found(!) the closest thing to the original. I am so, so excited about this source... going through their site was a trip down memory lane. Who knew that they still made those awesome panorama Easter eggs? I remember gettting giddy about them as a little girl. I am definitely bookmarking Blumchen... for Easters to come.

ooh la la - souvenirs de paris!

I try not to play favorites, but it's no secret that the Frida Kahlo party (remember it?) is one of my all-time top ten faves. So when I got wind that Erika (F.K. mom) had thrown yet another stellar party, I couldn't resist posting! This time...Souvenirs de Paris was the theme. Guests made eiffel-tour snow globes, dined on french treats, made french talk bubble photos and more. For all the details check out miko design blog or flickr page.

roaring 20's

Oh, to be 20 again! And what a creative 20 year-old Mattie is. She threw herself a 'roaring 20's' birthday complete with Charleston dancing, 'vintage' portraits, and 20's-themed decor. For more, check it out right here.
