reader question of the week #1

reader question of the week #1:

"I am looking for ideas for my 18th birthday party. I am really girly but I don't my theme to be too girly or childish. I am on a budget, so any DIY tutorial would help. Thank you so much! - gen"

For my 18th birthday, I had a princess party slumber party at a hotel (but it could be at your house). That sounds absolutely ridiculous, but it was so much fun. I don't think my friends and I had ever laughed so hard. We made ice cream sundaes and did slumber party things. Everyone had made their costumes and we had some extra tiaras and things.

It may sound like a childish idea (which it was), but that is what made it so fun. It is good for the soul to act ridiculous and get in a good laugh.

I hope you think of something fun! Happy Birthday!

Gen,
I have a cool idea- why not do a more grown-up version of a tea party?...I’ve been living in London for the past year, and I love that whole proper afternoon British tea thing. The places that I have been to for tea will do these really cute presentations, like tiered trays with miniature pastries, scones, cookies, brownies, cupcakes, etc, along with the tea of course. However, to make a bit more grown-up, maybe you can incorporate this new trend in London right now, which is teacup cocktails. Although, since you are 18, you would need to go with mocktails…I plan to blog about both the tea thing and the teacup cocktails in the coming weeks. So, if you still have some time before your party, and are interested in the idea, check my blog in the coming weeks. I’ll be posting some pics from a recent tea that I went to, and discussing teacup cocktails

Good luck with the planning!
