reader question of the week

reader question of the week:

"Any ideas for a cast-signing party? I broke my wrist, and the only bright spot in this is the idea of throwing a party to decorate my cast! I've been looking around for bone or x-ray-themed snacks and games and such, but with little luck. Help! -Kate"

How about an activity incorporating one of these two items?

Either would add a nice amount of whimsy and well-wishing for a cast signing party.

You could have everyone only use the one hand that you can use. We didi this for a relative that could only use his right hand. It was fun we all had slings to remind us that we couldn't use that hand. Eating was the most fun.

Play "Operation!"

There's a fun drawing game that we used to do in college called "Hide the ----" There would be something drawn on the page (a cut out of say, a bat for a batman-themed birthday party) and a topic would be given, like "family gathering" -- you'd have to draw around and incorporate the shape of the bat into some picture that had to do with a family gathering. People switch off choosing the topic and subsequently judging it. First place is given 3 points, 2nd 2 points and 3rd 1 point. You could do this one with bones or body parts...it gets to be really fun and silly :)

You could also watch a film where there is a broken arm involved-- say the episode of Always Sunny in Philadelphia where a broken arm is used to get sympathy...or Arrested Development and Buster losing his hand...you get the idea :)
